You know how every once in a while, a stranger will compliment you and it's just what you needed to hear?
That happened yesterday.
We had registered online for a bedspread at Belk, but it was on sale and had been there for a while.
So, last night, we went in just to ask and see if it would still be there closer to December. The girl said she couldn't guarantee it. And since this was the only bedspread we had found that we agreed on, we decided to just go ahead and buy it.
Well, as we were standing there, the cashier was talking to us, just about the usual: When we got engaged, When we were getting married, I was still in school, and Brice had graduated and was working.
Then she asks me: And how old are you?
To which I replied 20.
She looked kind of shocked, as most people do, and said, "Wow, I thought you were at least 23."
So, I said, "Well, it can go both ways. Some people will tell me I look 22-23. And then the same day, someone will tell me I look 16."
Then, that girl, bless her. She said, "Not the way you look, but the way you carry yourself."
And that just meant a lot that she would say that. To a complete stranger. And it makes me proud that my character shines for others to see.
She was a breath of fresh air, and I can't wait to go back and see her sunny self when we finish our Belk registry on Saturday!
And for curious minds, this is the bedspread we bought.
